The Irish Film Tax Incentive has been extended
In today’s budget, the Irish government announced an extension of the Irish film tax incentive to 2028. This brings huge reassurance to film producers from Ireland and film producers coming to Ireland. This commitment is set to further grow the Irish film industry and creates more opportunities for learning and training.
Key takeaways from the government’s announcement include:
- An extension announced to 31 December 2028 for the Section 481 film tax credit which is excellent news for the Irish film industry and a credit to the lobbying by the various interested parties for same.
- There is also mention that the Department will look at how to encourage international players in the unscripted production sector to locate here – so we will watch this space for more detail on this topic.
- €130m (maintained) for the Arts Council
- €15m to RTE for public service broadcasting
- €7.3m to TG4
